Community cultural tourism in Xi Thoai village (Phu Yen)

Xi Thoai village (Xuan Lanh commune, Dong Xuan district) is one of the villages in Phu Yen that preserves the indigenous culture. With the support of the tourism sector, non-governmental organizations and especially the attention of the local government, Xi Thoai was recognized as the first mountainous cultural village in the province in 2000; a community cultural tourism village in 2014; and a traditional brocade weaving village in early 2024.

Xi Thoai has over 200 households with more than 600 people, 95% of the population are Ba Na ethnic people, the unique cultural heritage here is known as double drums, gongs. This art form was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2016.

Promoting the value of national cultural heritage, Xi Thoai villagers are gradually restoring festivals, cultural heritages, preserving and promoting values ​​by creating community cultural tourism products.

Recently, with the support of the non-governmental organization MCNV (Healthcare Organization Netherlands – Vietnam), a community tourism complex in Xi Thoai village was formed, initially building community cultural tourism products such as gong cultural performances, brocade weaving, drinking rice wine, sightseeing, and picnics to serve tourists.
