(TITC) – On 27th October 2022, in Hue City (Thua Thien Hue Province), Tourism Information Technology Center (TITC) (Vietnam National Administration of Tourism – VNAT) coordinated with Thua Thien Hue Provincial Department of Tourism to organise the programme on guiding the implementation of ASEAN Tourism Standards. The event took place via hybrid platform.
Giving his remarks to start the event, Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, Deputy Director of Tourism Information Technology Center – TITC said, the programme on guiding the implementation of ASEAN Tourism Standards is one of the missions assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
ASEAN member states have identified the development of ASEAN Tourism Standards to standardise tourism services in the region as a necessary solution in the roadmap to promote ASEAN as a quality common destination.
According to Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa, it is necessary for tourism businesses to review and apply ASEAN Tourism Standards, to improve service quality and management efficiency on par with regional and international standards. By that, affirming the reputation and level-up competitiveness of Vietnam tourism.
Digital transformation associated with guidance of the implementation of the ASEAN Tourism Standard is one of the key tasks of the tourism industry in the meantime. TITC has so far built a separate website that integrates information related to the implementation guidance and assessment process of the ASEAN Tourism Standards to facilitate the implementation in the near future.
TITC will support and accompany localities and businesses with approaching and implementing ASEAN Standards in particular as well as in tourism digital transformation in general, affirmed Mr. Hoang Quoc Hoa.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Department of Tourism emphasised, introduction programme on ASEAN Tourism Standards and certification process, is a great opportunity for units to review, re-evaluate and prepare the necessary conditions to participate in the ASEAN Tourism Award – a prestigious award in the region to honour excellent units in the industry, join hands to develop sustainable tourism, contributing to promoting service quality and stimulating tourism demand in Thua Thien Hue Province.
At the training course, the Organising Board introduced, exchanged and discussed with the attendees 4 sets of standards, including: ASEAN public toilet standards; ASEAN Spa Service Standards; Standard of accommodation with rooms for tourists (Homestay) ASEAN and ASEAN Community Tourism Standards.
As per schedule, TITC will organise next programme on guiding the implementation of ASEAN Tourism Standards in Hoa Binh Province from 10th to 11th November 2022.
The ASEAN Tourism Standards are a unified guide to help improve the quality of tourism products and services as well as strengthen the accountability of stakeholders in ASEAN tourism development. Implementation and expansion of ASEAN tourism standards is one of seven action programmes to realise the strategic direction of “strengthening ASEAN competitiveness as a single tourism destination” identified in the ASEAN 2016 – 2025 Tourism Strategy.
